What We Fund

Pepper Street Foundation funds innovative social marketing solutions to address social issues in deprived communities under two key strands: PEOPLE and SPACES.

People

We fund innovative social marketing initiatives through internships, work placements and research projects.

Through Pepper Street Foundation funded internships and work placements, individuals can create and deliver social marketing campaigns to tackle a particular social issue such as improving health and wellbeing, improving access to education and employment, reducing crime, and other areas.

Our research projects fund ‘strategic research’ in social marketing, for example supporting academic institutions and other charities to further the knowledge base in social marketing. We also fund ‘action research’ for community projects. An example of this might be helping a group of individuals to gather ideas for a new activity programme which celebrates their cultural heritage.

Spaces

We provide funding to develop creative spaces for social marketing initiatives. These spaces host one or more of our funded projects as well providing an inspiring meeting place for general use by the community. Our first space in Pepper Street in London’s Isle of Dogs was the venue for ‘Teatime Tutorials(funded by the Foundation) and was also used by a local soup kitchen and for various community support activities including advice on mental and physical health and guidance on legal and housing support for the homeless.
